Divine Liturgy, every Sunday at 11:30 AM

Attd By: St. Volodymyr the Great, Utica, NY

Organizational activity for St. Michael’s Church was instituted in the spring of 1952 by the faithful who, while attending other churches, were clamoring for a church of their own. Hindered by lack of numbers, their dreams were hastened by an influx of after World War II emigrants to the Rome area.

Upon petition of the faithful, the Most Rev. Constantine Bohachewsky, bishop of the Philadelphia Eparchy, assigned Rev. Demeter Gulyn in August 1952, to carry out the pastoral duties of the parish. First Divine Liturgy was held Sunday, August 24 1952, at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Following Liturgies were celebrated in the American-Ukrainian Hall, where they were held for almost 2 years..

In march 1954 parishioners purchased former St. John Church and Rectory for $22,000.00. After required repairs first Liturgy was celebrated at new site on Memorial Day. His Excellency Bishop Constantine officially dedicated the church on July 2, 1954.
